5 Best Youth Hostels in Rio di Janeiro
Rio de Janeiro is a popular destination for travellers from around the world, and many visitors who are travelling on a budget, enjoy the wide choice of backpackers accommodation in the form of youth hostels. Below a look at 5 of our favourite youth hostels in Rio, Brazil.
El Misti Copacapana
This budget hostel is part of a chain of youth hostels for backpackers in Brazil which is successful and popular. The facilities, whilst being reasonably basic as would be expected, are modern, clean and well kept. There is generally a big demand to stay here so it is advised to book in advance.
Benefits from a great location close to the beach and shops.
El Misty Chill Paratay
This hostel right in the centre of Copacabana offers private or shared rooms, an open kitchen, a comfortable living room and a number of activities to entertain guests. There are also free airport transfers.
Rio Hostel - Santa Teresa
This hostel has the unusual feature of a swimming pool, somewhat making up for the hostels location slightly outside of the city centre. The area is quiet and surrounded by greenery, and this is a great hostel to stay if you want to experience some genuine Brazilian culture.
Cidade Maravilhosa Hostel
Despite being in one of the older areas of Rio de Janerio, this hostel offers all of the modern facilities you would expect from a youth hostel. There is also a handy laundry room and access to cable tv and a fully equipped kitchen.
Brasilis Hostel
This hostel can be found in an old mansion which is full of charm, especially considering its location in Santa Teresa, one of the quieter and more historic areas of the city. Perfect for those who want to experience more than the conventional idea of Rio.
